Book Review - I am number Four

I am Number Four - Pittacus Lore

GR summary:

"In the beginning they were a group of nine. Nine aliens who left their home planet of Lorien when it fell under attack by the evil Mogadorian. Nine aliens who scattered on Earth. Nine aliens who look like ordinary teenagers living ordinary lives, but who have extraordinary, paranormal skills. Nine aliens who might be sitting next to you now.

The Nine had to separate and go into hiding. The Mogadorian caught Number One in Malaysia, Number Two in England, and Number Three in Kenya. All of them were killed. John Smith, of Paradise, Ohio, is Number Four. He knows that he is next.

I AM NUMBER FOUR is the thrilling launch of a series about an exceptional group of teens as they struggle to outrun their past, discover their future—and live a normal life on Earth.

I AM NUMBER FOUR.

I AM NEXT"

Over the weekend I finished this book. I have to say when my group on Goodreads, The South African Booklovers were reading this for our book of the month last year I wasn’t interested at all!

But when I saw the movie trailer I knew I wanted to watch the movie, but there was no way I was going to do that before reading the book first.

So I started reading the book and at first I thought it was going to be the typical sci fi type book with terms I wouldn’t understand and a story line that didn’t make sense, but how wrong was I! And how happy am I that I was that wrong!

The story started to flow really easily. I really got to like Henri and John. John seemed a bit weird but nothing weirder than a teenage boy, which he is. The story of what happened to their planet really brings some emotion to the story. The love story between John and Sarah is really such a soppy type like/love but it makes you happy throughout the book, thinking that even in these situations he found love.

The story has some sci fi elements but nothing that will make you totally confused. It’s really a great step in to sci fi if you haven’t read it seeing as its disguised in YA. Yes there are other planets in the book, but most of the story takes place on earth, and John isn’t some alien with a huge green head. There is love in this movie, comedy with Sam and John, good humour, action and a loveable dog!

All in all, I really enjoyed the story and I would love to know what happens to them all after this book. And I really can't wait to see the movie!
