5. Klipspringer - The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (Come on, it sounds like a goat!)

6. Howl - Howl's moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones (Sounds more like a sound than a name)

7. Rincewind  - The colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett (If you dont find that strange then there's something wrong with you)

8. Count Olaf - a Series of Unfortunate events by Lemony Snicket (Weird name, Olaf, dont like it, creeps me out and sounds like an olive)

Great list!

I considered Atticus for my list, but in the end Sookie Stackhouse got to stand in for the "stupid Southern names" category.

Nice list! A few from Harry Potter made it on my list. Forgot about Slughorn though. And Eustace Scrubb?! Wow, never heard of that name before!

Here's My Top Ten

I've seen Stargirl on a couple lists. Eustace is also not very flattering.

Oh Professor Slughorn, good choice! Knew there were more from Harry Potter with odd names.

Also yeah, naming herself Stargirl...that is very quirky!

La Coccinelle said...

Have you read Howl's Moving Castle or have you just seen the movie? The book explains his name; the movie does not.

I have read it La Coccinelle, and it says his real name is Howl Jenkins, but reverting to Howell is just a funny name :)

Hey everyone, Slughorn, wow I just couldnt let that one slip away!
Also agree, Sookie Stackhouse, sounds like some kind of breakfast with a stack of pancakes!

Readerbuzz... hehe loosly translated Fantasmagoriese means Fantastical... hope that helps a little bit.

Some other weird names I didnt get to add... Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter)
Neville Longbottom (Harry Potter)
Albus Dumbeldore (Harry Potter)
Severus Snape (Harry Potter)
Peter Petigrew (Harry Potter)

Harry Potter is a great sorce for this top ten lol

Haha, Rincewind never fails to make me think of dishes that need to be washed. And aw, Howl! I thought it was just a kind of "sword-and-sorcery fantasy name", until they revealed his real name was Howell and it was sort of a lost-in-translation thing. I don't mind though, it adds to his coolness for me :) He could be called Bill and I'd still adore him.

Haha, yeah, jk wasn't very subtle with her monikers, was she? Lupin, Slugnhorn, Draco... and poor Neville! I think he got the shortest end of the stick.

Hahahaha Kayla and Cyna, you make me laugh!
Thats for sure, JK was very creative.

I still love Neville, even with that name, poor thing...
I like Howl to!!!! I'd love to see the movie of the book as well :)
