Royal History

The Other Boleyn Girl

I picked up this book about 2 years ago at the library after searching for some fiction on Royal History. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like this book and how much I ended up enjoying doing research on the subject.

The book of course is fiction, but still a great read and some of it true. The story revolves around Mary Boleyn mainly, who is the Other Boleyn Girl, as the Boleyn Girl we all know the best is of course Queen Anne, King Henry VIII 2nd wife.

It tells the story of Mary Boleyn’s love affair with the King of England before her family started pushing her sister to the thrown. Also how the King left his poor Spanish Queen to be with the man-eating Anne instead, how Anne seduced him and how she schemed to get what she want, hurting the ones she loved in the process.
The story it tells us about Mary is that she had two illegitimate children with the King, little Catherine and little Henry. It does get rather steamy at times and you learn a little as you read on.

I’d recommend this book to anyone who’d love to read a little fiction on history, especially if you love the Tudors.
